Can I try FigPad for free?

Yes. Every new account gets free credits with no credit card required — enough to generate figures, try the editing canvas, and inspect an exported file before you pay anything.

Can I use FigPad figures in journal publications? Who owns the copyright?

Accepted Answer

You do. Our Terms of Service state it plainly: "You keep ownership of Your Content… to the maximum extent permitted by law, you own the outputs generated for you." Use your figures in journal papers, theses, grant applications, posters, and commercial work — no extra publication tier, no per-figure fees. One honest note: some journals ask authors to disclose AI-assisted figure creation, so check your target journal's policy, and never present generated images as primary experimental data.

Does FigPad train AI models on my prompts, figures, or uploaded manuscripts?

Accepted Answer

No. From our Terms of Service: "We do not use Your Content to train our own models, and we do not sell it to advertisers." Your prompts and images are sent to third-party model providers only to generate your output, and the providers we use have committed not to train their foundation models on API inputs or outputs by default. Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest.

What export formats do I get? Do they meet journal requirements?

Layered SVG — true vector paths with independently editable elements, available on Plus and Pro. PPTX — figures land in your slides as editable objects. High-resolution PNG — 2K (Starter), 4K (Plus), or 8K (Pro), meeting 300 DPI print standards at typical figure sizes. Most journals require 300 DPI at print size for raster figures and prefer vector formats where accepted; FigPad covers both routes.

How do credits work?

Simply. One generation costs 2 credits, so Starter's 220 monthly credits cover up to 110 generations, Plus covers 150, and Pro covers 240. Text fixes cost 2 credits, element edits in the canvas are free, and exporting an editable SVG costs 4 credits (re-exporting the same version is free). There is no large per-export fee, so a typical generate–revise–export loop costs about 16 credits. Credits reset each billing cycle, and you can top up anytime with a one-time Pay-as-you-go pack.

What makes FigPad's SVG "actually editable"?

Many tools vectorize by tracing the image, which leaves you one welded group of splines. FigPad's pipeline produces layered SVG: text is text, arrows are arrows, and shapes are separate objects. Open it in FigPad's canvas, Illustrator, or Inkscape and edit any element without disturbing the rest. When a reviewer asks you to change one label, you change one label.

Can I get an invoice or receipt for lab reimbursement?

Yes. Invoices are sent automatically by email through Stripe after every payment — no support ticket needed. If your institution requires specific details on the invoice, contact us at contact@figpad.ai and we'll help. We know reimbursement deadlines are real; you won't wait weeks for a receipt.

Is my research data secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. TLS in transit, encryption at rest, least-privilege access controls, and a written no-training commitment in our Terms. You can delete individual figures and conversations anytime, and deleted accounts are purged within 30 days. Payment details go directly to our payment processors — we never see or store your card number.

How is FigPad different from FigureLabs?

Both generate scientific figures from text or sketches and both export SVG and PPTX. Cancel anytime with one click in account settings — your plan and credits stay active until the end of the current billing period, and you won't be charged again. Purchases are non-refundable except where required by law, but we'll make it right for service outages or billing errors.
