Generate from Text

Turn an idea into a figure

Generate scientific figures from text in FigPad

FigPad lets you describe a mechanism, pathway, or visual concept in plain language and turn it into a structured scientific figure.

This workflow is best when you already know what you want to communicate, but do not want to build the entire figure from scratch.

Best use cases

  • Graphical abstracts
  • Mechanism diagrams
  • Pathway illustrations
  • Concept figures for slides, posters, and manuscripts

How to get better results

  1. Describe the biological process or experimental story clearly.
  2. Include the key entities you want shown, such as cells, proteins, arrows, labels, or compartments.
  3. Mention the visual style you want, for example clean journal style, minimal, schematic, or high contrast.
  4. Iterate once or twice instead of trying to force everything into one prompt.

Example prompt

Create a clean scientific mechanism diagram showing macrophage activation by LPS,
NF-kB nuclear translocation, inflammatory cytokine release, and mitochondrial ROS.
Use a white background, clear labels, blue and orange accents, and journal-style layout.

Next step

After generating the figure, continue to Export Editable SVG if you want to refine text, arrows, colors, or layout in a vector editor.
