Export Editable SVG
Why editable output matters
Scientific figures are rarely finished in one pass. Supervisors, reviewers, and collaborators often request small but important changes.
That is why FigPad focuses on editable output instead of only giving you a flat image.
What you can do with SVG
After export, you can open the SVG in tools like Adobe Illustrator and continue refining the figure.
Common edits include:
- Updating labels or terminology
- Moving arrows or callouts
- Adjusting colors and line weights
- Cleaning alignment and spacing
- Reusing figure elements in a larger panel
Recommended workflow
- Generate the figure in FigPad.
- Export both PNG and SVG.
- Use PNG for quick review and sharing.
- Use SVG when you need precise edits before submission or presentation.
Practical tip
If your figure will go through multiple rounds of review, keep the SVG version as the working master. It will save time compared with regenerating the full image each time.
